A Few More Preferences

August 2, 2012

At this point, you can have a conversation about your preferences.  I won’t be giving translations for those words that are review.  Remember, when reading pronunciations, that Rs are rolled in Scottish Gaelic, so that the ‘R’ at the end of muir sounds more like a D.

  • Cò as fheàrr leat–nathair no luch?
  • ‘S fheàrr leam luch.

  • Cò as fheàrr leat–ugh no iasg?
  • ‘S fheàrr leam ugh.

  • Cò as fheàrr leat–beinn no muirben no myoor?  mountains or sea?
  • ‘S fheàrr leam beinn.

  • Cò as fheàrr leat–feasgar no madainnFES-kair no MAH-din? evening or morning?
  • ‘S fheàrr leam madainn..

Tomorrow: we’ll learn to ask what she prefers, what he prefers, what they prefer….

Feel free to leave your own Cò as fheàrr leat questions and answers in the comment section.

Don’t forget to review previous lessons now and again!

I would appreciate if you gave a phoentic spelling of the word please. We all know how easy it is to trip up on this.

    Hi, Lisa,

Thanks for stopping by! I usually give phonetic spellings on each post. When I don’t, it’s because the words have already been used several times and/or quite recently, as is the case with the review words here. All those that have no phonetic spelling today have been used in the posts immediately prior to this.
